Description

Where Edition Ten marked a milestone, Edition Eleven for We Are Makers marks our onward journey. Continuing our commitment to sharing makers' stories and ensuring the craftspeople of the world have a place to reach new audiences – free from algorithms and distractions. A place where you, our readers, can continue to connect on a deeper, more meaningful level with the world's most incredible makers.

In this edition, we dive into our first boots-on-the-ground exploration in Ballarat, Victoria, a city with a rich history and a burgeoning creative renaissance. During the Ballarat Heritage Festival and UNESCO Creative Cities events in the last week of May this year, we were on the scene, engaging with local makers, and documenting the week's events as they unfolded.

Alongside this feature we share eleven stories from global makers, each one a unique and personal journey. Amy Krone in New York, inspired by a serendipitous find in a second-hand bookstore, creates Cambium Lost Arts and explores the art of basketry. Idris Olabode from Lagos, Nigeria shares his deep connection with clay, crafting unique ceramics from locally sourced materials. From Fife, Scotland, Greg Field makes the most sought-after leather jackets that are loved by customers worldwide & so much more.

What is We Are Makers?

We Are Makers is a quarterly printed magazine - 148 pages of long-form storytelling and documentary-style photography - taking you inside the lives and workspaces of real craftspeople around the world. Made to be kept, not scrolled past.

What can I expect inside this edition?

Each edition features a curated group of craftspeople, told through in-depth interviews and photography captured in their own environments. You’ll read about their work, their lives, their turning points, and the realities of making - not a tutorial, and not a highlight reel.

Why a printed magazine?

Because most online content is designed to be consumed quickly and forgotten. Print gives these stories the space they deserve and gives you something you can return to and reread.

Who is this magazine for?

For people who want more than surface-level inspiration.

This is about the people behind the work - not just the work itself.

Is this a one-off purchase or a subscription?

You can purchase a single printed edition, or subscribe to receive every quarterly issue automatically.

Who publishes We Are Makers?

We Are Makers is published by Kate and Jack Lennie (a husband and wife team) We travel to meet makers in person, spend time in their spaces, record long conversations, and shape each story from what they choose to share.
