Where Edition Ten marked a milestone, Edition Eleven for We Are Makers marks our onward journey. Continuing our commitment to sharing makers' stories and ensuring the craftspeople of the world have a place to reach new audiences – free from algorithms and distractions. A place where you, our readers, can continue to connect on a deeper, more meaningful level with the world's most incredible makers.
In this edition, we dive into our first boots-on-the-ground exploration in Ballarat, Victoria, a city with a rich history and a burgeoning creative renaissance. During the Ballarat Heritage Festival and UNESCO Creative Cities events in the last week of May this year, we were on the scene, engaging with local makers, and documenting the week's events as they unfolded.
Alongside this feature we share eleven stories from global makers, each one a unique and personal journey. Amy Krone in New York, inspired by a serendipitous find in a second-hand bookstore, creates Cambium Lost Arts and explores the art of basketry. Idris Olabode from Lagos, Nigeria shares his deep connection with clay, crafting unique ceramics from locally sourced materials. From Fife, Scotland, Greg Field makes the most sought-after leather jackets that are loved by customers worldwide & so much more.

Let customers speak for us
from 114 reviewsIt is a door opening to the world of artists and their stories of their crafts that is inspiring to people who are either interested in arts or pursuing their own journey to learn about all sorts of crafts all over the world. In that sense, it is a vehicle to connect people. It can be a decision maker for young people to choose their profession. I enjoyed reading one issue very much and I highly recommend this magazine to be a new reading material on your coffee table.
I'm enjoying reading We Are Makers. I love learning how other people think about their art.
Great fun to read about different crafts.
The magazine is carefully curated, giving each maker the voice they deserve. It is made of high quality paper, and the shipping went smooth as well. Keep up the good work Kate and Jack!
What a wonderful magazine! The articles are insightful, thorough and well-written, as well as being very informative and interesting. I can't wait for the next issue!
I really, really love this edition! I've read it in one sitting and even though I've initially bought it because of the article on Meredith Woolnough, I've enjoyed all the articles. It's just amazing and gives me so much hope and joy to see others be as passionate about their arts and crafts, as I am about the things I love to do. It's just great to read about and also: the magazine is such a good quality!! I'm so, so happy with having this really great quality, which makes me believe it's going to hold for at least as long as any book will. The paper is thick and has a very haptic feel to it, the design is lovely and the way the articles are structured is very reader friendly. Love, love, love this!!
Great coverage of the many different crafting ideas 💡💡
I enjoyed the variety of makers and their creative process. So fun to read about each one. Lovely layout of each page.. doesn’t feel like I’m being bombarded by ads.. I cozied up and read it like a book. I certainly don’t mind paying a subscription for this kind of magazine!
Is there an opportunity to purchase back issues?
Perhaps the only negative would be the smell?? It has a funky odor.
Loved my first copy. A world class publication.
Love this magazine. Discovered so many new makers. Very inspiring!
We love this gorgeous little publication, as makers ourselves, who also run workshops with many other makers, we love learning about creatives working away all across the world! Please keep going x
I love it .
I love this magazine and can’t wait to read the next issue
How inspiring. Reading others artistic journey. What drives them. Getting a glimpse of how things are made. Inspiring.
Excellent quality journal full of stories about a wide range of international artisans.
